What is a Group Ticket?

Travelling with a scout group, on a school excursion or on a trip with friends? Take advantage of a Group Ticket and save while travelling aboard our trains. For larger groups, we even reserve space on board and provide reservations free of charge.

What a Group Ticket offers

We offer a Group Ticket for as few as 2 passengers travelling together:

the first passenger pays the full fare (Flexi ticket)
the second passenger receives a 25% discount
the third and subsequent passengers receive a 40% discount
every passenger receive a 50% discount if travel 20 or more passengers

Are there 20 or more of you?

it’s necessary to book journeys for groups of 20 or more persons in advance
every passenger receive a 50% discount
when you book a journey in advance, we’ll provide you with free seat reservations for each train of ČD on which you travel at least 15 km (except for SC reservations and reservations for trains 476/477 Metropol) if possible
on trains where it’s not possible to procure seat reservations as such, we’ll reserve seats for your journey if possible (seats cannot be reserved on Airport Express connections, on bus connections or in rail replacement bus service)
if the train’s capacity is exhausted, we’ll reserve seats for you in a supplementary carriage, if this is technically possible
free reservations of spaces for bicycles, until the capacity is exhausted in normally included carriages

This ticket cannot be used for intra-regional journeys by Regional trains (Os) and Regional fast trains (Sp) in the territory of the South Moravian Region and the Zlín Region.

Terms and conditions for Group Tickets

The discount is provided for 2nd class travel only, and only for group travel of at least 2 and at most 99 passengers.

Group of 20 or more passengers

every passenger receives a 50% discount off the Flexi ticket fare for adults if travel 20 or more passengers;

The discount is contingent on maintaining the minimum number of passengers travelling together (who have the same boarding and destination stations) regardless of their age. It is not necessary to demonstrate eligibility for this discount with identification.

One-off upgrades for a circuitous journey or for 1st class are only possible for groups of up to 19 persons.

Groups of 20 or more persons

When a group of 20 or more persons travel, it is necessary to book the trip no later than 72 hours in advance by using the booking form, at a ČD ticket counter or by telephone with the ČD Central Customer Service on 221 111 122. For each booking, ČD will verify your transport options and if the booking is approved you will receive a transaction code, which you will use when purchasing the tickets. It is necessary to purchase tickets at a ticket counter or in the ČD e-shop by the set deadline or no later than 48 hours prior to the train’s departure; otherwise, the booking will be forfeited.

Advantages of booking a trip in advance

When you book a journey in advance, we will provide you with the following benefits for each train on which you travel at least 15 km:

50% discount off the Flexi ticket fare for adults
free seat reservations (with the exception of SC reservations and reservations for trains EN 476/477 Metropol) if possible
on trains where it’s not possible to procure seat reservations as such, we’ll reserve seats for your journey if possible (seats cannot be reserved on Airport Express connections, on bus connections or in rail replacement bus service)

Groups of up to 19 persons

When groups of up to 19 persons travel, it is not necessary to book the trip in advance. In such a case, however, you will not be able to utilise the advantages of booking a trip in advance.

Price Schedule for Group Tickets

The price of the Group Ticket depends on the tariff distance. Tariff distance is determined for the actual transport route between railway stations according to the kilometres specified in the timetable of the railway operator or the timetable of a contractual bus carrier, and ranges from at least 1 km to at most 600 km.

Group of 2 to 19 passengers

The first passenger will pay the Flexi ticket fare for adults, the second passenger will pay 75% of the Flexi ticket fare for adults, and the third passenger and each additional passenger will pay 40% of the Flexi ticket fare for adults.

Group of 20 or more passengers

Every passenger will pay 50% of the Flexi ticket fare for adults.

FAQs

I purchased a group ticket in the ČD e-shop. How should I proceed if fewer of us will travel?

For tickets purchased in the ČD e-shop, requests for a refund in the case of complete or partial non-use are submitted right on the ČD e-shop website; such requests cannot be submitted at ticket counters. For these travel documents, partial non-use cannot be documented by a confirmation issued at the boarding station, but it is essential to request a confirmation from the conductor (from an authorised ČD employee) on each train used.

I purchased a group ticket, but fewer of us will travel. How should I proceed?

In the case of partial non-use of a ticket purchased at a ticket counter or on the train and used by a lesser number of passengers, the payout of a refund is conditional on a confirmation of the actual number of passengers issued by the cashier at the boarding station or by the conductor on the first train used. The payout of the refund is subject to the same conditions as in the case of complete non-use, but with the difference that the right need not be exercised (the request need not be submitted) on the first day of the ticket’s term of validity, but rather, without undue delay, no later than six months following the first day of the travel document’s term of validity.

I have a group ticket, but we cancelled the trip. How should I proceed?

In the event of complete non-use of a ticket, it is possible to request a refund no later than on the first day of the ticket’s term of validity at any ticket counter with the proviso that if the ticket was paid for in cash the refund will be paid out in cash only at the station where the ticket was purchased. If payment was made using a payment card, the request can be made at any station with a terminal for accepting cards upon presentation of the payment card with which the ticket was purchased; in the case of tickets paid for with the wallet on an In Karta card, the request can be made at any ticket office. In other cases, the request for a refund will usually be processed within a period of one week to one month depending on the number of cases being processed; the maximum period for processing is three months from the date on which the request is submitted. This period follows from legislation and is merely the allowed time limit for review in the case of complicated situations.

How does it work if the group includes children or pensioners?

Age plays no role for group tickets. The discount is provided solely on the basis of the number of persons in the group. For groups of 6 or more persons, it is necessary to book the trip in advance.
