General Terms and Conditions for Opening and Using the ČD Credit Payment Means

Valid from 25 May 2018

A ČD Credit account allows the account holder to make a deposit (pre-payment) on future purchases of inland and international travel documents, vouchers, parking fees, insurance in international transport, recharges of an electronic wallet on an In Karta card (EPIK), recharges of a ČD Credit account belonging to a different person, or other services and products offered in the ČD e-shop, in the ČD e-shop for mobile telephones, and in the Můj vlak (“My Train”) application.

It is not possible to use a ČD Credit account to pay for a purchase at ticket counters, vending machines in stations or aboard vehicles, or from conductors on the train.

In view of the fact that the deposited pre-payment can be used to purchase services with various rates of VAT, no tax receipt is issued when recharging (crediting) a ČD Credit account; rather, tax receipts are issued when travel documents are purchased.

General terms and conditions for opening and using a ČD Credit account

  • A ČD Credit account can only be opened (activated) in the ČD e-shop on www.cd.cz.
  • A customer who wishes to open a ČD Credit account must be registered in the ČD e-shop and logged in; it is not necessary for the customer to be an In Karta cardholder.
  • When registering, the customer is required to truthfully provide his or her name and surname, and to enter a PIN to authorise payments. After logging in, the PIN can be changed in the user profile as needed.
  • The PIN is a combination of four numerals and provides security for payments from your ČD Credit account. Combinations of repeating numerals and numerals in a numerical sequence are not permitted.
  • It is also necessary to provide answers to three control questions. The control questions enable you to reset a forgotten PIN.
  • After entering this information, agreeing to these General Terms and Conditions, and confirming that you have familiarised yourself with the terms and conditions of Personal Data Protection, the ČD Credit account is opened by allocating a unique 10-digit ČD Credit account number to the customer.
  • With this step, a Contract on the Establishment and Use of a ČD Credit Account is concluded between the registered customer and the company České dráhy, a.s. (ČD) in the sense of Section 1745 of Act No. 89/2012 Coll., Civil Code, as amended. The contents of the contract are stipulated by these General Terms and Conditions.
  • After opening a ČD Credit account, it is essential that you confirm any changes to your user profile (name, surname, telephone number, possibly identification document, In Karta card number, etc.) by entering your ČD Credit account PIN.
  • For each ČD Credit account, it is possible to associate only one currently valid In Karta card, and vice versa.
  • This In Karta card is used to identify the ČD Credit account holder when recharging at the ticket counter or when resetting a forgotten PIN (unblocking a ČD Credit account). With every login to the ČD e-shop, the validity of the In Karta card is verified. If it is no longer valid, a request is displayed to update the In Karta card information in the user profile.
  • Corporate customers with permission to pay by invoice cannot open and use a ČD Credit account. Submission of a request to pay by invoice is contingent on the cancellation of an existing ČD Credit account.
  • If the user is logged-in, the current available balance in the ČD Credit account is displayed on every page of the ČD website, in the mobile e-shop, and in the Můj vlak (“My Train”) mobile application in the user profile and when selecting a payment type.
  • An overview of ČD Credit account transactions is available after logging into the ČD e-shop.

Rights and obligations of ČD and the ČD Credit account holder

  • In the event of a violation of the General Terms and Conditions or generally binding legislation on the part of the account holder, České dráhy, a.s. (ČD) shall be authorised to electronically block the functioning of the ČD Credit account until such time as the account holder meets his or her obligations under the General Terms and Conditions or legislation. An e-mail notification of the ČD Credit account’s blocking will be sent to the address provided during registration.
  • ČD bears responsibility for lost portions of funds deposited in a ČD Credit account and for the erroneous execution of operations caused by software defects or unauthorised infiltrations into the ČD Credit system and the ČD e-shop, and where such failure was not caused by the ČD Credit account holder knowingly, through incorrect use, or through his or her conduct in contravention of the General Terms and Conditions.
  • In the event of a dispute with the ČD Credit account holder, ČD will demonstrate that the operation which the dispute concerns was not influenced by a technical breakdown or other defect on the issuer’s side.
  • When using the account, the ČD Credit account holder is required to abide by these General Terms and Conditions and generally binding legislation.
  • When communicating with ČD, the ČD Credit account holder undertakes to provide true and undistorted information about himself or herself. In the event of a change to such information, he or she is required to update the information accordingly in the ČD e-shop customer profile without undue delay.
  • ČD is not responsible for damages incurred to the customer (the account holder) as a result of having provided untrue or invalid information on his or her side, or as a result of failing to update such information in the event of a change.
  • In the event that the access password to the ČD e-shop is revealed or breached, or if the PIN is divulged, the account holder is required, immediately upon learning of such an event, to change this information or to ask ČD to block the ČD Credit account on tel. +420 221 111 122.

Using your ČD Credit account

Recharging (crediting) your ČD Credit account

In the ČD e-shop, in the mobile ČD e-shop, or in the Můj vlak (“My Train”) application

  • It is possible to recharge your ČD Credit account after logging into the ČD e-shop by making a deposit using a payment card or vouchers, by means of a transfer from a different ČD Credit account, or using a different payment instrument implemented in the ČD e-shop.
  • In the mobile ČD e-shop and in the Můj vlak (“My Train”) application, you can use all available payment instruments (payment card). It is not possible to cancel a completed recharge of a ČD Credit account.

Sums refunded without a service charge are linked exclusively to the purchase of ČD travel documents and services, and cannot be paid out when cancelling a ČD Credit account. They can be credited to a different ČD Credit account or they can be used to recharge the electronic wallet account of any valid In Karta card (EPIK).

At a ČD ticket counter

  • At the ticket counter, it is possible to recharge a ČD Credit account using cash in CZK or EUR, a payment card, a ČD gift payment card, vouchers or the electronic wallet in your In Karta card (EPIK).
  • In order to recharge a ČD Credit account from an electronic wallet on an In Karta card (EPIK), so-called bound funds (recognised refund sums granted without a service charge) are used preferentially. The condition that a bound sum can only be used to pay for travel documents applies here as well.
  • At the ticket counter, it is also possible to recharge a ČD Credit account with documents issued as part of a passenger indemnification in inland or international transport with the proviso that these funds must be used to purchase ČD travel documents and services.
  • When recharging at the ticket counter, the user must identify himself or herself by providing the allocated ČD Credit account number to the cashier or by presenting the In Karta card associated with the ČD Credit account.
  • The minimum recharge amount for a ČD Credit account is CZK 100, and the maximum balance for a ČD Credit account is CZK 30,000. In the event of refunds paid out as a result of an exercised right (claim) under the transport contract, this limit may be exceeded for a short period of time.
  • At the ticket counter, it is only possible to cancel a credit operation made in error between the time when the operation was made and the time when the passenger leaves the ticket counter.

ČD Claims Processing Facility (OPT)

  • Crediting a refunded sum arising from the exercise of a right (claim) under the transport contract for travel documents purchased in the ČD e-shop and paid for out of a ČD Credit account, including sums from refunds without a service charge for documents paid for using any of the ČD e-shop’s payment instruments in fulfillment of the terms and conditions stipulated in the SPPO.
  • Administrative correction of a transaction made in error on the basis of a passenger claim or errors determined by ČD.

Payments from a ČD Credit account

  • From a ČD Credit account, it is possible to pay for all types of travel documents and services offered in the ČD e-shop, including electronic wallet (EPIK) recharges and recharges of the ČD Credit account of a different customer.
  • Payment from a ČD Credit account is possible only after logging into the ČD e-shop, the mobile ČD e-shop, or in the Můj vlak (“My Train”) application.
  • It is not possible to combine payments using a ČD Credit account and a payment card.
  • It is possible, however, to combine a ČD Credit payment with payments using ČD vouchers, transport vouchers and ČD Points.
  • It is only possible to make a payment from a ČD Credit account if the ČD Credit account balance is sufficient to cover it. If the amount due is greater, the customer will be notified of the ČD Credit account’s insufficient balance.
  • For payment, so-called bound funds from refunds granted without a service charge are used preferentially.
  • In the event of a credit to an electronic wallet (EPIK) account, bound funds are used preferentially.
  • When crediting a different ČD Credit account, it is possible to select the amounts of unbound and bound funds.
  • Each payment from your ČD Credit account is secured by entering a PIN.

Blocking and unblocking a ČD Credit account, forgotten PIN

Blocking a ČD Credit account by entering an incorrect PIN

  • After the third time an incorrect PIN is entered, the ČD Credit account is automatically blocked for a period of 15 minutes. After this period has expired, the ČD Credit account is automatically unblocked and another three attempts to enter the correct PIN are possible.
  • After another three unsuccessful attempts (a total of six unsuccessful attempts) to enter the PIN, the ČD Credit account is blocked.

Unblocking a ČD Credit account

In the ČD e-shop:

  • After a ČD Credit account has been blocked by three unsuccessful attempts to enter the correct PIN, the ČD Credit account is automatically unblocked after 15 minutes.
  • It is possible to unblock a blocked ČD Credit account right in the ČD e-shop by answering your control questions. After answering the control questions correctly, you will be able to enter a new PIN (change of PIN without entering the original PIN).
  • It is also possible to unblock a blocked ČD Credit account in the ČD e-shop by sending a code for entering a new PIN to the mobile telephone number specified in the customer’s profile in the ČD e-shop. It is necessary to enter a new PIN within five minutes from when the text message containing the code for unblocking is sent.

At a ticket counter:

  • It is possible to request the unblocking of a ČD Credit account and the activation of a new PIN at a ČD ticket counter by presenting an In Karta card, provided the account holder has it registered in the customer profile in the ČD e-shop. The ČD Credit account holder presents his or her In Karta card to the cashier, who verifies the In Karta cardholder’s identity according to the photograph and compares the name and surname specified on the In Karta card with the information in the customer’s profile in the ČD e-shop. In the event of any doubts as to the identity of the person presenting the In Karta card, the cashier has the right to refuse to unblock the ČD Credit account.
  • If the ČD Credit account holder does not have an In Karta card listed in the customer profile in the ČD e-shop, it is possible for the account holder to request that the ČD Credit account be unblocked by communicating to the cashier his or her ČD Credit account number and the e-mail address specified in the customer profile in the ČD e-shop, and demonstrating his or her identity by presenting an identification document. The identification document can only be a Czech civic identification card, a passport, a foreigner’s permanent residence permit for the Czech Republic, or an the identification document of a citizen from an EU country (so-called identity card). Without knowing the ČD Credit account number and the e-mail address, it is not possible to unblock a ČD Credit account. This is also the case if the name and surname on the identification document do not match the name and surname specified in the customer’s profile in the ČD e-shop, or if the photograph on the presented identification document does not match the current appearance of the person presenting it. The unblocking of a ČD Credit account also requires the signing of an affidavit, which is archived by ČD for a period of five years.
  • In the case of a request to unblock an account where the customer’s identity has been verified with an In Karta card or identification document, an e-mail message with instructions for resetting the PIN is automatically generated and sent to the e-mail address which the user specified in his or her profile.
  • If the customer’s profile in the ČD e-shop contains fictitious information, and for this reason it is not possible to demonstrate and verify the identity of the ČD Credit account holder (owner), then the blocked ČD Credit account cannot be unblocked. In order to make subsequent purchases in the ČD e-shop using a ČD Credit account, it is necessary in this case to re-register using a different e-mail address.

Exercising one’s right under the transport contract

  • To exercise one’s right under the transport contract for documents paid for out of a ČD Credit account and to process such a request, the terms and conditions specified in the SPPO, the ZUJ and the Rules for Shopping in the ČD E-shop shall apply.
  • Recognised refunds thus arising for travel documents paid for out of a ČD Credit account are always credited back to the ČD Credit account from which they were paid.
  • For documents paid for out of a ČD Credit account or by other payment means, it is possible to request a refund without a service charge under the terms and conditions specified in the SPPO.

    Claims on transactions

    • Claims regarding the functioning of a ČD Credit account or individual transactions can be made using the contact form on the ČD website by selecting Question -> Travel by train -> Payments for travel documents, by e-mail on info@cd.cz, or by telephone on 221 111 122 (the call is subject to a fee). In your submission, you must specify your ČD Credit account number, the date and approximate time of purchase, the passenger’s name and surname, the e-mail address provided in the ČD e-shop order specifying where the travel documents should be sent, and possibly also other information explaining the reason for the claim; never provide your PIN.
    • Claims on transactions will be processed within 30 days.
    • It is not possible to exercise one’s right (claim) under the transport contract for purchased travel documents in this manner.

Cancellation of a ČD Credit account, payout of the balance and termination of the contractual relationship

    • A customer can cancel a ČD Credit account only after logging into the ČD e-shop and after entering the correct PIN.
    • It is not possible to request a payout of the bound portion of the balance (the portion arising from refunds without a service charge after exercising one’s right under the transport contract, from a credit for travel documents as part of passenger indemnification, or from a credit arising from vouchers, etc.).
    • If the current balance of the ČD Credit account is zero, it is possible to cancel the account immediately.
    • If the ČD Credit account balance is zero and 12 months have passed since the last transaction performed by the customer, the account will be cancelled automatically.
    • In the case of non-zero balances, a ČD Credit account can only be cancelled if the balance is settled by means of:
      1. a transfer of the full balance to the ČD Credit account of a different account holder;
      2. a request to send the money to a bank account in the Czech Republic, except for the bound sum;
      3. a request to pay out the balance in cash in the Czech Republic by means of a postal money order with the Czech Post, except for the bound sum.
    • A payout of the balance by sending it as a postal money order is subject to a fee in the amount of CZK 50 to cover the associated costs. If there are bound sums in the ČD Credit account, the payment of this fee will be covered preferentially from these sums.
    • It is not possible to cancel a ČD Credit account in the event of a hitherto unprocessed claim arising from an exercised right under the transport contract.
    • The customer will be informed by e-mail about the processing of the request, the handover of the transaction to the bank or post office, and the termination of the contractual relationship.
    • If there is a non-zero balance in the ČD Credit account and 12 months have passed since the last transaction performed by the customer, ČD will charge the customer an account fee in the amount of CZK 50 per month for each subsequent month without a balance change in the ČD Credit account. The customer will be informed of this in advance by e-mail, and will be sent a payment receipt for each such debited amount. The last (insufficient) balance, regardless of its amount, will be used in the full extent for the final settlement of the account fees without ČD requesting another payment. The ČD Credit account will be cancelled automatically as soon as it reaches a zero balance.
    • After four years have passed since the last transaction performed by the customer, the account will also be cancelled and the entire balance will be re-invoiced as income of ČD.
    • In the event of the death of a ČD Credit account holder, ČD will issue a statement to the executor of the estate containing information on the amount of the balance in the ČD Credit account on the basis of a written request sent to České dráhy, a.s. – Claims Processing Facility (OPT), Department of Portioning, Clearing and Reconciliation of Relationships in Passenger Transport, Vídeňská 15, 772 11 Olomouc, CZECH REPUBLIC. The balance will be transferred to the heir by bank transfer or postal money order within 30 days from the presentation of the final judgement of the inheritance court (certified copy) to the address specified above, and the ČD Credit account will be cancelled. If a postal money order is sent, postage will be charged according the Czech Post’s price schedule valid at the time when the judgement is presented.
    • A cancelled ČD Credit account cannot be re-opened. The customer may open a new ČD Credit account without limitation.
    • After 30 calendar days have passed since the cancellation of the ČD Credit account, the Contract on the Establishment and Use of a ČD Credit Account is terminated.
    • ČD archives the data on the cancellation of a ČD Credit account for 5 years.
    • Changes to these General Terms and Conditions will be published on www.cd.cz no later than 14 days prior to the date on which they become valid. An e-mail notification of changes to the General Terms and Conditions of ČD Credit accounts will be sent to all ČD Credit account holders using the address provided during registration.
